How to fit a gym in the corner of a small apartment
Fit all the material you need for your home workout in a 50cmx50cm space
When the Covid pandemic had hit, my gym was closed since the whole country was in lockdown. Because of that, I went from working out four sessions to zero sessions a week. As I have been exercising for the past five years I had to adapt regardful of the fact that I live in a medium apartment in Paris. After a while, I was able to get back to my previous rhythm using all the materials I bought.
I am well aware of the fact that many people have the same issue and since a lot of my friends and colleagues have asked me to share with them how I manage to work out indoors, I have decided to write these words.
The first part of this article will discuss the materials I have bought and I use to exercise at my apartment while the second part will focus on the main worry of storing all the equipment in a 50 by 50 cm area in a way that makes it easy to put away and take out the gear
Indoors workout equipment
Without further ado, here is the list of the gear I have bought to equip my home gym in the most optimal way possible :
- Pack of dumbells
- Dumbells (x2)
- 2 kg weight discs (x4)
- 1kg weight discs (x8)
I prefer the ones with threads rather than rings because they can be loaded heavier.
- 10 kg weight discs (x2)
- 5 kg weight discs (x8)
The handles can be used with the elastics.
- Shock-absorbing slab (x2)

Many people are reluctant to buy sports equipment for fear that it will take up a lot of space in their apartment. Having thought about the subject long enough and being a storage maniac, I have come up with a compact storage method that allows you to store your “gym” in a 50cm x 50cm space in the corner of any room of your apartment.
